Tip! For macro photography, you must shoot the subject as close as possible as the effective working distance. This is all about the right distance without disturbing the subject, if in case you are shooting small insects.

A few years ago I became interested in digital photography, mainly for web publishing and personal reasons. You know, how nice is it now to NOT have to deal with film, scanning pictures, and the costs of developing all of those “not great” photos that you didn’t know were so bad until you paid to have them developed!

There are two main types of photography to sell, that is assignment photography and Stock Photography. Assignment photography is taking photographs of a predetermined event, and stock Photography is taking photographs in the hope that you will be able to find a future buyer. Most professional photographers take both types, the weddings and portraits take care of immediate bills, as they command a higher price, because they are generally only of interest to a limited number of people. There are exceptions like being hired for a specific assignment to photograph an Olympic Event, and then being able to sell that photograph Internationally. In general, stock photographs command a lower price, but they are more saleable to a wider base.

Tip! To ensure your success. Writing a business plan enables you to consider all aspects of your photography business.

Follow some simple rules to ensure you get the most from your shots on the slopes:

- keep your equipment free from damage

keep equipment in a sturdy bag when not in use and avoid knocks and accidents (including falls!) – remember, the more expensive your bag, the better the quality and protection for you valuable stuff

- keep your equipment dry

snow, ice, water and cameras don’t mix – professional cameras may be watertight, but cheaper ones are no. And, electronics don’t like water

Tip! Check at colleges and universities who are studying photography and hire a student to do it. You can get professional looking photos for a fraction of the price.

A friend of mine admitted to being a novice in photography. He would constantly make errors and would get prints back with “helpful notes” from the lab on them.

He hadn’t a clue about shutter speeds or apertures. He had never used a filter or had the slightest reason to buy a tripod or extra lenses. For me, he was a nightmare.

Kirlian photography – Photography A – Z the Easy Way: M – Macro or Close-Up

Tip! In some situations, black and white photography has the tendency to make photos look more like works of art – fine art images will sell better in galleries.

What is “macro” photography? You will come across many different people talking about the real meaning of macro photography and there are very many senseless arguments as to what it means for the reasonable photographer.

Basically, macro photography is just close up photography. It means getting nearer to your subject and effectively making it look bigger in the viewfinder or on the screen.

Photography A – Z the Easy Way: N – Noise (Michaels photography)

Tip! It’s all in the lighting. Like in any photography styles, lighting or available light can make or unmake any photograph.

Pixels in your camera’s sensor pick up light. This light is converted into an electrical impulse which is then transferred as an image to your LCD camera screen or stored on the memory card.

Sometimes the electrical signal is not “clean” but muddied and “noisy”. This can lead to a degradation of the image especially visible on a printed or computer screen enlargement.

This happens through natural variation, internal electricity generation (the internal activity of the sensor) and temperature changes.

Digital Infrared Photography – Film Fumbling In The Dark Foiled! (Dynamic photography)

Tip! To ensure your success. Writing a business plan enables you to consider all aspects of your photography business.

Digital infrared photography requires some homework to lead you to the perfect camera equipped for this purpose.

It is quite feasible to use digital imaging to simulate the look of an image shot on infrared-sensitive film. However, this is no match for real digital infrared photography, since you’ll be working with an image that was taken in the visible spectrum!

True digital infrared photography can even resolve one or two of the problems associated with traditional infrared film photography.

Digital Photography Lighting – (Photography framed art) Shedding Light On The Subject

Tip! Myth: I got a digital camera that takes great photos now I can start a career as a wedding photographer. Reality: Wedding photography requires that you have artistic talent and that you learn photography including composition, lighting, etc.

Digital photography lighting may utilize the same light as film cameras, but these cameras have very different ways of reading, interpreting, and dealing with it.

Digital photography lighting presents many challenges, not the least being that some CCD sensors still lack the broad exposure latitude of color films.

This means that some digital photos taken in strong light conditions, may have empty shadows and blown out highlights.
